Survivor

Why do some survive and others don't?

Why do some buckle-down under pressure while others win despite all odds?

What does it take to face challenges with elan and grace?

These questions are important to answer in the times that we are in…. uncertain and challenging, very much like an obstacle course that has to be navigated with care and precision.

As always, the answers come from some form of Existence.

Picture a Bison who hears the winds howling. Turning back, he sees massive dust clouds too near for comfort. He knows that a storm is approaching…. will he buckle under the fury of nature?

He falters. A part of him silently screams, “Run away or this will be the end of you!” And then, realization dawns. “I am a force of nature, myself.”

He decides to run headlong into the storm, right through it. He intuitively knows that victory is on the other side. He does not flee, but charges straight into it with courage, strength and resilience…. to emerge a winner on the other side.

The Bison, an ancient beast, a true survivor silently whispers to us – “Face your fears! Go through it with grace and non-resistance!”

What lessons in self-management and self-regulation can we learn from the Bison? I would love to hear from you.

“THROUGH WINDS THAT HOWL AND SKIES THAT WEEP,
THE BISON MOVES, ITS FOOTING DEEP,
AGAINST THE STORM, IT DOES NOT STRAY,
BUT PRESSES ON, COME WHAT MAY.”
